David Roocroft is an experienced composer, sound designer and musician who has written and produced works for clients such as the BBC, Audible, Big Finish, Bonnier Books and Bafflegab - including an adaptation of M. R. James’ A View From a Hill (starring Alice Lowe and Andy Nyman) which won an ARIA and a New York Festival Radio Award.

An accomplished guitarist, David played in a number of bands based in the North West of England, and on occasion played as a guest musician for other artists - including a couple of live dates as guitarist for the late, great Daniel Johnston.

As a solo artist, David released music and remixes as Leopard of Honour on labels such as Sub Rosa, Kitsuné and Transparent, while in parallel cultivating a career as a composer for screen and audio projects.

David has a masters degree focusing on film sound, which led to a period of composing electroacoustic music, some of which was showcased at the Sonic Arts Network Expo and the University of Manchester.  Following on from that, David’s subsequent film work has included an experimental film score that has been performed live at the prestigious Cinémathèque Française, in Paris.

Since then, David has made a career composing music and creating sound design for television, audio drama and podcasts with a range of projects that includes Doctor Who, non-fiction audiobooks, CBBC, Blue Peter and lots of full cast drama released across multiple formats: broadcast media, streaming CD and vinyl.
